My choreographies are a desperate attempt to find something tangible out of the impermanence of life.
I call upon the knowledge living in my body to find logic in how I arrive from one place to the next.
I prioritize the healing of self that can be found through this way of work, which extends itself not only to me,
but in the celebration of individual expression encouraged in those who dance with me.
I value humanity above all else.
As dancers move through choreography, they are themselves before they are the movement.
In my work I research raw expression, and express that through a vulnerable showcase of authenticity,
often rooted in how we connect to ourselves and those around us. Those who feel far, and those who sometimes feel too close.

MOUTHFUL began as an extension of my work “Are You Still Looking?”, but quickly developed into something else. Instead of focusing on a narrow scope of romantic endeavors, my cast and I began delving into the understanding and expression of self.
With a grant from Salem State University, we began rehearsals in September of 2024, and performed April 26, 2025.
This work is an exploration of the self as it travels through states of presence and avoidance. It’s research of the instinctual desire for protection, while longing for intimacy. It’s about the ways in which our identity is shaped as we learn how to move through these realms of proximity and solitude. Is this regimented pattern authenticity, or a facade? What happens when we allow a depth of honesty to be exposed in a communal way?

2023-2024
This group work was extension of a solo work Austin had created for themselves in December of 2023. It was a cathartic expression of heartbreak, as it uncovered the phenomena of falling in and out of love, through the lens of how Austin, as a young girl, dreamed of how care would look like in their adult life.
This solo was performed at the ACDA Northeast Conference, and the group work was performed at Salem Old Town Hall as a recipient of a Salem Public Art Commission.
